Graduated as a graphic designer in the graphic design class at the Lucerne School of Art and Design with study stays in Bath (UK) and New York.

Author of Neotopia – Atlas for the Fair Distribution of the World, based on her thesis

self-employed as a graphic designer

Visiting lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts

Commissioner for the design of the new Swiss banknote series

Master of Advanced Studies in Cultural/Gender Studies from the Zurich University of the Arts

Founding of the design studio Manuela Pfrunder GmbH in Zurich

Completion of the Swiss banknote series

Studio in Flums, mother of one daughter

Since then, active in the field of concept and development of complex print graphics in the area of security printing; sample notes, personalized cards and passports, as well as banknotes – but also communication materials, posters, wine labels, stamps, etc.

  • Award Banknote of the Year 2016 (50 note), 2017 (10 note) presented by the International Bank Note Society IBNS

  • Speaker at several conferences, symposia, and meetings on Neotopia, graphic design, and security design.

  • Former member of the committee of the International Banknote Designers Association (IBDA).

  • Former chief expert of the examination board of the Canton of Lucerne in the qualification procedure for graphic designers (EFZ)

  • Member of the Swiss Graphic Designers Association (SGV) and its admissions committee
